DeWalt Heated Jacket Vs Milwaukee

These are probably the two products that I received the most questions about.

There are five questions that I keep getting asked about the different jackets and I want to go over them really quick.

The first one being are they warm. I know it’s a really simple question, but truthfully, that’s why you’re investing into this coat and into these product lines – you want to know if they’re going to keep you warm.

I am excited to tell you that yes, they are both extremely warm jackets.

If I had to pick sides and I’m not trying to keep score here, I’m going to go with the DeWalt one and the reason why it’s a little bit thinner of a jacket overall, which I feel the heating coils rest on you a little bit more.

You got to remember, you’re not trying to overly layer with these kind of jackets. You want it to be as snug to you as you can, so those heating elements are able to make contact with your shirt or the base layer that you’re wearing and get that heat right to your body.

I just feel the DeWalt jacket overall heats better but I also believe it’s because it’s a little bit thinner of a jacket compared to the Milwaukee one.

The second question I keep getting asked is how long does the battery actually last.

If you read the box or if you read any of the other reviews out there about the heated jackets, most of them say about eight hours of use.

I will shoot you straight.

There’s no way either of these jackets get eight hours.

On the highest setting, most of the time you’re going to get about two to three hours max.

So I always bring a second battery with me for both jackets. That way I know I can switch them in and out.

But you also got to remember, more than likely, you’re not just running the jacket all day long for eight solid hours.

Most of the time you’re going to be turning it on and off when you’re going to lunch, you’re going indoors, you’re going back outdoors.

So if you’re a big fan of either Milwaukee or DeWalt, more than likely if you’re using their power tools, you have extra batteries on hand. So what I would always encourage you to have at least two with you if you plan on using it all day.

If you are putting it on its lowest setting or its medium setting, of course it’s going to last you a little bit longer. But if you’re actually going for the heat and you want it to warm you up, you’re going to want to put it on its high setting.

It does take about five minutes for each jacket to warm up, which isn’t really that big of a deal and they do keep you very warm.

Another question that everybody keeps asking is how durable are they, are they machine washable?

The answer is yes. They’re both extremely durable.

I was able to wash the jacket multiple times. The heating elements still work just fine. I haven’t seen any wear and tear on the jacket. So I’m actually really impressed with that.

I’ve used the Milwaukee jacket more for the snow. I feel like it is a thicker jacket. It’s a thicker outer shell overall, which definitely helps cut down on the wind and the cold that you’re going to feel from the outdoor elements.

My suggestion is always machine wash them but then just let them air dry.

The number four question I get asked the most is which one fits the best, which one’s more of a true fit, which one you like that’s the best style.

Me personally, I kind of prefer the Milwaukee one.

I like the color red and truthfully that’s kind of how I made my decision. It’s nothing complicated.

I feel DeWalt is a little bit larger of a jacket, which provides a little bit more mobility. So if you’re looking for that, I would go with the DeWalt.

Truthfully here’s what I’ll tell you.

In the winter for four months, if I had to pick one to keep me warm and I was running out the door, which jacket I’m gonna grab? I’m gonna go with my Milwaukee one.

I’ve actually worn this every single day for the last couple of weeks, going to the mall, doing the holiday shopping and all that fun stuff and the Milwaukee one I’ve gotten so many compliments on and so many people recognize it, it’s not even funny.

I’m sure you’ll get the same response with the DeWalt one.

I just feel the Milwaukee one is a little bit more stylish. Now, is that practical, is that functional? No, not really, but it’s probably going to be one of the determining factors in what jacket you purchase, because you still want it to look nice and you still want it to look cool.

The fifth question I keep getting asked what’s the price point.

Most of these jackets go anywhere from $250 and $300 and that’s including the kit. I know you can get some CPO options for about $200.

Me personally, if I was going to buy one, I would just buy a brand new one and that comes with the jacket, the charger, the holster and the battery.

Let me give you my final thoughts.

One thing that I really like about the Milwaukee jacket versus the DeWalt jacket is that the Milwaukee jacket has heated pockets.

I’m a huge fan of having my hands warm through winter. There’s nothing I hate more than having cool hands and once your hands get cold, you almost need to take a shower for your body to warm back up.

I like the option of having my hands get warmed up in the pockets.

Is it the strongest heating element? Transparently no, but if you keep your hands in there, out of the wind, the Milwaukee jacket does have the option to heat your hands. DeWalt does not have a hand warmer.

If you’re looking for a day to day work jacket, but not a heavy winter coat, what I would suggest to you is probably go with the DeWalt jacket.

This is the one that I’m going to be using spring and fall. I feel it’s thick enough to be worn in the fall when it’s about 40 to 50 degrees out and if the temperature gets too much colder, I can turn the battery on and heat it up and feel really comfortable.

For a winter jacket I feel the outer shell of the Milwaukee is just overall thicker and it’s going to be a better winter jacket.

One of the determining factors for you guys with regarding to which jacket you’re probably going to go with, I know it’s going to come down to probably two different options.

Number one, which brand do you like better? Which one do you have all their power tools for and all the batteries to heat these things?

I’m going to go with color and selection.

I know some of them have camo, some of them have dark gray. You guys might be looking for different color choices.

Secondly, what are some of the different features that you would like to see in either jacket?

They both have a lot of the similar features. They’re both able to charge via the USB attachment on the battery.
